One of the most innovative tools to come out for some time is the Makita BTP140. Although compact in size, this thing packs 4 tools in 1 so you have less to carry around the job site. This tool has 4 modes: impact, hammer drill, driver, and regular drill so it can serve almost any function you need.
The Makita BTP140 is equipped with a 4-pole motor that delivers up to 1,240 in. lbs. of max torque. For the small size that this drill is, that's a ton of power. You're also getting 16 different clutch settings and 2 separate speed settings (0-700 RPM and 0-2,300 RPM)

When you plan on drilling into masonry and concrete, you will be getting a powerful 0-27,600 BPM (blows per minute). When you need to do a simple fastening task, you can just switch to the impact mode which delivers 0-3,200 impacts per minute.
As with almost all the new Makita tools, the Makita BTP140 features the innovative new LXT Lithium-Ion technology. These 18-Volt batteries are lighter, run longer, and charge quicker than the traditional batteries you see in a lot of other drills. There is also a built-in shock absorber to protect the battery from damage.
The Optimum Charger allows a memory chip in the battery to communicate with a CPU chip in the charger to deliver the most efficient charge possible and make the batteries last longer. On average, these new Li-Ion batteries last 2.5 times longer than a standard battery.
You would think that because of the sheer power and features the Makita BTP140 provdes, it would be a bulky drill. Surprisingly though, it's very compact and weighs just 3.9 pounds and is only 7-3/8 inches in length. Comfort is very important while you're working and the ergonomic design of the BTP140 allow it to fit very nicely in your hand and reduce the chance of fatigue.
Two more really cool features of this drill are the built-in L.E.D. light and the phosphorescent bumper ring. The light helps you see in small, dark areas and the bumper ring glows in the dark so you don't have to worry about losing your drill because you can't see it.
As you can now see, the Makita BTP140 is really an awesome tool to have. It's 4 tools in 1 which means you don't have to carry as much around the job, it delivers tons of power but is still compact in size, and the Lithium-Ion battery technology is unsurpassed by any other drills on the market. This tool also features unique unibody construction with three steel straps that keep the motor, gears, and clutch together. This ensures that the gears never separate from the motor, and it keeps the drill functioning even after drops.
