Most woodworkers (me included) finds ideas for the next wood project by doing a search for free woodworking project plans on the web. I'm sure the only reason you're reading this article right now was you stumbled on it while doing your free plan research.
Let me get right to the point. I've found an excellent website with free wood project plans. What I like about this site is these aren't teaser free plans with the main focus of the site trying to sell you 14,000 project plans. In fact there are also free booklets with free instructions on project finishing, free Simple Solutions in areas of your home such as in the Kitchen.

Okay, the website I'm talking about for wood plans is minwax.com. The reason I like minwax.com is there are over 2 dozen free woodworking project plans in pdf format with immediate free download. Also, there aren't any forms to fill out asking for your personal information. You find the plan for the project you are interested in and click on it and open it on your computer no questions asked.
The free projects cover a wide range of wood projects. For example the Accessories plan category has free wood project plans for wood nesting trays, a Shaker-Style Coat and Mitten Rack, and a Arts & Crafts Table Lamp. Other project categories include Free Furniture projects, Outdoor plans including free plans with instructions for building a porch swing, a garden bench and a planter. The Storage project plans category include stackable shelves, a Hard Maple Kitchen Shelf, and a CD Holder.
The final category is made of free plans with kids in mind. Projects include a vintage airplane plan, tabletop hockey game, a tabletop soccer game and finally a free baseball cap rack project. This project is made for the beginning young woodworker in mind. The project is designed to introduce various woodworking skills such as measuring, making square cuts and curved cuts. This free project plan also exposes the beginner woodworker to using the router.
This collection of free woodworking project plans has plans for woodworkers with different skill levels. Plans for beginning woodworkers include a Country Flag Tray, a Whittled Peg Rack, a free Fishing Pole Rack plan and Shaker-Style Coat and Mitten Rack.
